* While Japanese whiskey is the purest expression, we actually often use this template with other base spirits. We've used Gin and Aquavit to great success.
** What even is shiso? 🤔 Never had it? You may have without knowing what it was. If you have eaten a piece of fish wrapped in a delicate green leaf at a sushi restaurant 🍣, that leaf was probably shiso. The first hit on google describes shiso as "pungent and grassy, it contains strong flavors of spearmint, basil, anise and cinnamon." We would add "fresh and clean" to that description. It is in the mint / basil family, but it tastes like neither.
